Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on February 4, 2019.

The respawn system was designed to discourage players from repeatedly dropping into the same location repeatedly to look for better weapons. All guns in the game are organized by three different rarities: Common, Uncommon, or Rare. Players can obtain loot either through scavenging for it throughout the game world, purchasing it with in-game currency called “credits” which are earned through playing matches or completing challenges, or using one of the many loot box items that can be purchased with real money.

Apex Legends does not feature any type of microtransactions for individual purchases; though players have the option to buy loot boxes, they cannot purchase specific items from them. Apex Legends features a crafting system known as “blueprints” which players can use to create a new weapon and ability modifications. Blueprints are obtained randomly through loot boxes or purchased with credits. There is also an option for paid content such as skins, banners, and other cosmetics that do not affect gameplay.
